Working for clients the Clifton Diocese and Swindon Borough Council, Holy Cross School brings 2,000 m2 of additional classrooms and facilities for 420 pupils. The new school will not only help to meet the increased demand for primary school places in the centre of Swindon but will also provide a first-class education facility and modern learning environment for local children.
Working closely with architect Cullinan Design, Beard Construction used Hardie® Plank fibre cement cladding in a mix of bold, bright colours – Parkside Pine and Ocean Blue – interspersed with white and black to create a fresh, fun and contemporary aesthetic.
The look was completed using a vertical installation method to create a striking visual effect in upright stripes.
Matthew Bennett, site manager for Beard Construction said “Due to the challenging project delivery date, working with an easy to install product like Hardie® Plank cladding was especially important to ensure a quick turnaround on site.
“Hardie® Plank boards are easy to cut and fit, especially using the Gecko gauge tool to speed up installation times further.
It was also really helpful that Hardie® Plank cladding was available to us when needed with a short lead time for delivery.”
“The additional services offered by James Hardie - such as onsite training for our installers - really added value. I was impressed!”
